The Saboo Group traces its roots back to the late 1940s when it pioneered the manufacturing of Emery stones and Flour Mills for the first time in India. Today the SABOO GROUP OF INDUSTRIES is dominating the field of Emery Stones, Flour Mills and Grinding Machines in the entire Indian market. Apart from these products, the group is also actively involved in the manufacturing & Exports of Abrasives and Minerals, Food Products i.e. Salt, Spices etc., Solar Energy, Guar Gum and Hospitality Industry.

The Group has a dealership network of over 450 distributors all over the country and is also exporting the above products to countries like Bangladesh, Dubai, Sharjah, Sudan, Egypt, Kenya, Malaysia, Mauritius etc. in large quantities.

The R&D and Quality Control departments are handled by well-qualified and experienced personnel capable of rising to the latest developments of International level and standards and related works are in progress incorporating the needs of customers in the products.

Mr. Girdhar Saboo, a chemical engineer, who is a dynamic, ambitious and aggressive young entrepreneur is at the helm of affairs of Saboo Sodium Chloro Ltd. as its Managing Director.

In fact, the company is his brain wave. He has rich experience in the salt industry with an in-depth knowledge of refining salt to high purity of 99.5% and above and is well versed with the intricacies of salt refining in the world today. He has been in touch with various leading salt equipment manufactures in Germany, Switzerland and USA, regarding processing, drying and packing of salt.

He is also associated closely with the group companies. Besides being the Managing Director of Saboo Sodium Chloro Ltd., he is also on the Board of Directors of Sunstone Engineering Industries Pvt. Ltd., Abrasive Emery Industries Ltd and is a Partner in Ambika Stone Manufacturing Co., Saboo Stone Industries and Saboo Exports.

After completing Chemical Engineering in the year 1993 he started working on this prestigious and unique project and presented the project report to IDBI for project financing and TDICI for venture funding. Both the institutions showed confidence in this young entrepreneur and sanctioned term loan and foreign currency loan to import the plant and machinery and hence the foundation of Saboo Sodium Chloro Limited was laid, which is the largest fully integrated manufacturer of free flow triple refined iodized salt in Northern India with the latest technology from Germany.

It is situated in the village Govindi, Tehsil Nawa city, Distt. Nagaur (Rajasthan) which is only 100 kms from Jaipur city. The company’s public issue opened in May, 1995 and received an overwhelming response from the general public. Its shares are traded on the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The company has set up another plant in Gandhidham (Gujarat) at Motichirai and a third plant is at Phalodi near Bikaner (Rajasthan).

Today the company has the capacity to produce up to 600,000TPA triple refined free flow iodised salt using the most modern Imported Plant and equipment and the latest state of the art technology available in the world and one million TPA of industrial grade salt for chloro alkali industry, fisheries, textiles and dying industry. Besides this, Saboo Sodium Chloro Ltd. exports triple refined iodised salt & industrial salt to various countries like Papua New Guinea, Mauritius, Korea, Malaysia, Dubai, Bangladesh, Kenya, Ghana etc. on large scale.

Saboo Sodium Chloro Limited was incorporated as a Public Ltd. Company on 22nd November, 1993 with the express object of setting up North India’s first and the largest fully integrated one lakh ton per annum Salt Refinery, using the latest technologies available in the world, to refine salt to a very high degree of purity.The sophisticated principles of chemical engineering used by the Company are the same as favoured by the leading Salt Refineries in Switzerland, Spain and other European countries.

This Project costing Rs.1450.00 lacs, has been appraised and assisted by the Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI) by way of Rupee Term Loan of Rs.445.00 lacs and Equity participation from ICICI Asset Management Company Ltd. SBI Fund Management Ltd. (TDICI), Kothari pioneer prima fund,promoters & public aggregating Rs. 838.00 lacs.

Salt produced by its Salt Refinery is exceptionally high in purity, matching international standards. A large part of it is exported. The Salt Refinery was designed with the help of eminent Salt Technologists, who had over 3 decades of experience in this line, which included lot of spadework done in this field in Switzerland.

The Salt Refinery is based on the latest principles of chemical engineering resulting in very low consumption of utilities and exceptionally high purity of the final product. The Company has imported all the major plant & Equipment from reputed suppliers of Germany, Switzerland & USA. The work on this project started in November 1994, and the company achieved commercial production in December 1995.

The company’s public Issue opened on 21st Match, 1995 and received overwhelming response from the public. Its shares are being actively traded.

All our products are NATURALLY Free Flowing and does not contain any harmful anticaking agents which are present in all other brands of free flowing salt. This has been possible because we use imported state-of-art plant & technology and apply most modern techniques to make it NATURALLY Free Flowing without addition of any harmful anticaking additives.

Most of the manufacturers of free flowing salt are adding 0.85 to 1.00% anticaking agents for making the salt free flowing. However, SABOO, SURYA & TOTA brands of salt are different from other brands of salt, in that they are drawn from pollution free subsoil brine water of Sambhar Lake, famous for centuries as the source of finest quality and healthy salt. Our salt is also iodized, treated and packed at most hygienic state-of-art and sophisticated Plant and contains no organic chemicals.The other manufactures make salt from seawater which is open to all kinds of impurities/pollutants like sewage, oil spillage, dead animals, industrial effluents etc.
